We had a lovely surprise visit from Bernie Green this morning. Bernie and his wife, Helen, ran the shop and post office, as it was then, from 1987 to 1995. At that time, the building was also their home; what is now the café served as their sitting room, while one of the upstairs storerooms, office and cloakroom were once two bedrooms and a bathroom. In 1988, Bernie replaced the wooden lean-to at the back of the property, building the stone kitchen extension we see today, at a cost of £10,000.It was wonderful to hear his stories and his clear fondness for Longborough Shop. Thank you for sharing your memories with us, Bernie — we hope you enjoy the Longborough gin. 🍸 See MoreSee Less
